Anybody can get tons of free, targeted traffic with article writing.

Article marketing is a well known and very effective traffic generation method for a few reasons:

1.    By writing articles you get multiple back links to your website or blog which boosts your SERPs
2.    The traffic you receive from articles is 100% targeted
3.    If your articles are well written and submitted correctly, your work will be listed on first or second page on Google search under some of your most profitable keywords. This means that you will spend less money on PPC as well.

There are few keypoint which you need to follow in order to generate traffic by using articles

1.    Research
Never select topics/keywords to write articles on before having done your research, having chosen your product that is proven to convert and most importantly – before having set up a quality landing page to promote.

2.    Create your promotion
This varies and should be based on your research data

3.    Find keywords and key phrases
Find targeted keywords relevant to your landing page – you can do this by using Market Samurai or Google’s keyword tool

4.    Evaluate your keywords – which ones convert and which ones do not

This step is not mandatory, but if you want optimal results, you’d better test them with Adwords by setting up a quick campaign
You should know that keywords are not generated equal. Some convert, others do not, but after all you want to write articles that rank well and convert into sales. Adwords is an easy way of finding this information out. Another reason for doing this is that you can also estimate which phrases are getting the more traffic, and you can evaluate that by the number of impressions for a particular keyword. Thus you can narrow down your keyword selections and only bid on ones that people are actually searching for.

5.    Evaluate your competitors
Once you have already prepared your keyword list (around 60 or so) you need to determine which phrases you can realistically rank for in SEs. The reason I say realistically is that there would obviously be no point in targeting phrases such as “learn Forex”.

There is some very serious competition for this term and you can hardly have a chance to rank in the top ten results. For such topics you need to go for longer tail keywords.

The best way of checking whether you can target a certain phrase is to do a “phrase search” in Google. Enter your phrase into the search bar and add to it inverted commas around. For example: “best forex trading software”. In this instance, this phrase has 28,200 results found (at the time of writing this article.). And though that this may seem a lot, it really is not. Remember that you can target almost any phrase that has under 35,000 results using Ezinearticles.
What you need to do next is write a relevant and unique article that includes your previously prepared phrases 5/6 times for each of them in the text, submit it to the directory and you’d likely get to the top 10.

6.    Create article titles based on your keyword phrases
Having determined your phrases, next thing to do is to create article titles for every one. Titles must include the targeted phrases and must definitely draw attention.
You can actually be amazed with people coming up with extremely boring titles for their articles. For instance: if I wanted to target the term “article writing”, I would not make the article title:
“The top 10 best article writing tips”

But:

“10 sizzling article writing tips that will slash your competition in no time”

Remember that both with Adwords ads and the organic results all on one page, there is a lot of data a user to skim through. This is the reason why you need to stand out of the crowd if you want people to click and read your article. If you take the needed time to compose great titles, you will eventually double the traffic. Mark my words on that. You may decide to outsource your article writing, but you should always do your article titles yourself. This is that important!

7.    Writing the articles
The next step is expectably to write your articles. You can pay someone to do this for you, but you will need an exclusive license to do that, or you can do them by yourself, it is up to your decision.

7.1    Writing Yourself

Writing articles is time consuming and if you approach it in this way, try to write and submit one article per day and thus build a consistent traffic.

How to write them…

The only source I use is EzineArticles.
What most people are doing is searching within Ezine Articles for relevant information to their topic. Since this directory consists of hundereds of thousands of articles, 99% of the time you’ll find out that all the research is done for you and provided that your job will be to rewrite the article with your own words, thoughts and know-how. There is another option which lures article writers – private label rights (PLR) articles. I do not recommend you PLR, I have never tolerated it and most of  the article directories do not tolerate PLR as well.

Whatever you decide to do with your article writing , there are a couple of crucially important factors you need to pay in mind.

Since article directories are quite picky about what they accept, make your content informative and useful, provide value to your materials, do not just copy what others write. Leaving sales-like text will not only mean that you are more likely to be accepted, but also that your intext links are more likely to be clicked on.

You should always include a link within the text (if this is allowed) – not solely in the author’s bio box. For example, if I publish an article titled “Make big money with article writing – beginners guide”, and if I include a targeted link as high in the article content as I am allowed, when someone searches for the term “make money writing articles” on Google, clicks my article link and then starts to read the text, their eyes are in no time drawn to the highlighted blue link which anchor text is quite the same phrase they were searching for in the first place in Google. How about that?
In case the reader does not click after all, they will most likely continue till the bottom of the article and click on the links in the bio box.

Last note:
There are many people who say that getting traffic from articles can be an awful waste of precious time. Though it may be time consuming, it is, most importantly, free and if done with correct research, it can actually be a very effective traffic tactic.
