Free Buzz Monitoring Tools
Jul 13th
Online reputation monitoring has become an inseparable part of (successful) Marketing today. There are many costly tools (such as Radian6 and Scoutlabs), not to mention greedy agencies and consultants, which offer you this service, but here are 10 free online tools to help you begin monitoring your e-reputation.
A very simple and intuitive tool that tells you what people are saying about you or your brand in a form of movable widgets. Addictomatic shows you results from Twitter, Friendfeed, Bing News, Google blog search, Digg, Delicious, Technorati, Twingly, etc. You do not even need to register on the site! In order to access your searches, you can just bookmark the URL of your search result and get back to it whenever you need.
This RSS feed, in competition with Netvibes, is very popular in the States. Bloglines can be used to start monitoring the sources you are interested in. And since recently, Bloglines is accessible via iPhone.
This is a free service by Nielsen Buzzmetrics. Blogpulse allows you to easily search a brand’s name being mentioned in the blogosphere. It also allows you to have access to influence-statistics of numerous US blogs. Further, the trend section offers you graphs of the most talked about subjects on the blogosphere.
This one is less known than the previous. This tool specializes in monitoring forums. Boardtracker is currently following more than 66 million topics on more than 37,000 forums. English speaking forums are the most monitored.
This is a service that monitors comments left on blogs, Digg, Flickr, etc. After sign-up, Commentful sends you a notification for every new comment.
The less known relative to Twitter also has its own search engine. Friendfeed’s search engine is more interesting than Twitter’s. You can call this herecy, but not only does it retrieve text, but also generated content such as photos and videos posted by users.
Google Alerts is an essential program for anyone who follows a brand or companies’ occurances and mentions on the Internet. It is simple and easy to use, and most of the time relevant. This tool has evolved a lot over the years, and you now have the option for transforming the alerts you set into RSS feeds – one very interesting option since dealing with mailboxes filled over capacity.
This is not a monitoring tool in the classic sense, it is rather a tool that takes notes on your visibility on social networks. You can have your Google Blog Posts score, Twitter score, Flickr score, Youtube, Myspace, etc, on the same page. This tool can be very useful to measure the impact of your actions across the social networks.
This one is above all a search engine that specializes in the indexing of blogs, using the “fresh links” concept to identify hot topics. It also offers a search module for Myspace, and this makes it the only tool of these that does so.
As it is suggested, Keotag allows you to search content tags. Once you have picked a tag, Keotag lets you choose the sites you want to it search for you. Of course, the classics among the choices are: Google, Twitter, Technorati, Reddit, Digg and others. After search, all the filtered results are posted on the same page.
EXPOSED: Wild SEO Unleashed
Apr 22nd
Last Friday night i found out about three products i am going to post about this week. One of them is Wild SEO Unleashed.
“We’re gonna tell it to you straight if you want to get your website ranked #1 in Google or Yahoo, it is very possible. There are thousands of people who make money on complete autopilot every day from acheiving top search engine rankings. But don’t start thinking you can just press a magic button and money comes out of Googles tickle trunk.”
Familiar?
For the 50$ you need to pay for this product you also get a very decent amount of bonuses – over 30 (fyi – most of them free, but affiliate links) – according to my humble impression. The product is mostly newbie targeted, but i guess that everybody needs to Refresh their knowledge from time to time.
I smirked at their obvious opinion that submitting to SE’s is a waste of time while submitting to directories is a good use of time. When i had realised the same truth before, i was amazed to find out about this – but it is true.
In a nutshell i am left with the impression that this product may not be the ultimate moneymaker, but it is good for the average beginner and is definitely the first product i come across which shares the truth that submitting to SE’s is a waste of time : ) If you are interested in this product – be sure that it won’t lie to you.
You can find the product’s contents on its official sales site HERE
Article Writing for Traffic
Feb 3rd
Anybody can get tons of free, targeted traffic with article writing.
Article marketing is a well known and very effective traffic generation method for a few reasons:
1. By writing articles you get multiple back links to your website or blog which boosts your SERPs
2. The traffic you receive from articles is 100% targeted
3. If your articles are well written and submitted correctly, your work will be listed on first or second page on Google search under some of your most profitable keywords. This means that you will spend less money on PPC as well.
There are few keypoint which you need to follow in order to generate traffic by using articles
1. Research
Never select topics/keywords to write articles on before having done your research, having chosen your product that is proven to convert and most importantly – before having set up a quality landing page to promote.
2. Create your promotion
This varies and should be based on your research data
3. Find keywords and key phrases
Find targeted keywords relevant to your landing page – you can do this by using Market Samurai or Google’s keyword tool
4. Evaluate your keywords – which ones convert and which ones do not
This step is not mandatory, but if you want optimal results, you’d better test them with Adwords by setting up a quick campaign
You should know that keywords are not generated equal. Some convert, others do not, but after all you want to write articles that rank well and convert into sales. Adwords is an easy way of finding this information out. Another reason for doing this is that you can also estimate which phrases are getting the more traffic, and you can evaluate that by the number of impressions for a particular keyword. Thus you can narrow down your keyword selections and only bid on ones that people are actually searching for.
5. Evaluate your competitors
Once you have already prepared your keyword list (around 60 or so) you need to determine which phrases you can realistically rank for in SEs. The reason I say realistically is that there would obviously be no point in targeting phrases such as “learn Forex”.
There is some very serious competition for this term and you can hardly have a chance to rank in the top ten results. For such topics you need to go for longer tail keywords.
The best way of checking whether you can target a certain phrase is to do a “phrase search” in Google. Enter your phrase into the search bar and add to it inverted commas around. For example: “best forex trading software”. In this instance, this phrase has 28,200 results found (at the time of writing this article.). And though that this may seem a lot, it really is not. Remember that you can target almost any phrase that has under 35,000 results using Ezinearticles.
What you need to do next is write a relevant and unique article that includes your previously prepared phrases 5/6 times for each of them in the text, submit it to the directory and you’d likely get to the top 10.
6. Create article titles based on your keyword phrases
Having determined your phrases, next thing to do is to create article titles for every one. Titles must include the targeted phrases and must definitely draw attention.
You can actually be amazed with people coming up with extremely boring titles for their articles. For instance: if I wanted to target the term “article writing”, I would not make the article title:
“The top 10 best article writing tips”
But:
“10 sizzling article writing tips that will slash your competition in no time”
Remember that both with Adwords ads and the organic results all on one page, there is a lot of data a user to skim through. This is the reason why you need to stand out of the crowd if you want people to click and read your article. If you take the needed time to compose great titles, you will eventually double the traffic. Mark my words on that. You may decide to outsource your article writing, but you should always do your article titles yourself. This is that important!
7. Writing the articles
The next step is expectably to write your articles. You can pay someone to do this for you, but you will need an exclusive license to do that, or you can do them by yourself, it is up to your decision.
7.1 Writing Yourself
Writing articles is time consuming and if you approach it in this way, try to write and submit one article per day and thus build a consistent traffic.
How to write them…
The only source I use is EzineArticles.
What most people are doing is searching within Ezine Articles for relevant information to their topic. Since this directory consists of hundereds of thousands of articles, 99% of the time you’ll find out that all the research is done for you and provided that your job will be to rewrite the article with your own words, thoughts and know-how. There is another option which lures article writers – private label rights (PLR) articles. I do not recommend you PLR, I have never tolerated it and most of the article directories do not tolerate PLR as well.
Whatever you decide to do with your article writing , there are a couple of crucially important factors you need to pay in mind.
Since article directories are quite picky about what they accept, make your content informative and useful, provide value to your materials, do not just copy what others write. Leaving sales-like text will not only mean that you are more likely to be accepted, but also that your intext links are more likely to be clicked on.
You should always include a link within the text (if this is allowed) – not solely in the author’s bio box. For example, if I publish an article titled “Make big money with article writing – beginners guide”, and if I include a targeted link as high in the article content as I am allowed, when someone searches for the term “make money writing articles” on Google, clicks my article link and then starts to read the text, their eyes are in no time drawn to the highlighted blue link which anchor text is quite the same phrase they were searching for in the first place in Google. How about that?
In case the reader does not click after all, they will most likely continue till the bottom of the article and click on the links in the bio box.
Last note:
There are many people who say that getting traffic from articles can be an awful waste of precious time. Though it may be time consuming, it is, most importantly, free and if done with correct research, it can actually be a very effective traffic tactic.
Social bookmarking strategies
Nov 27th
Many people say (and write) that bookmarking your posts/new content to bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us and digg will bring you tons of traffic. Well, considering the fact that there are thousands of people bookmarking in the same time as you do, it turns out that your bookmark will list on 2nd, then 3rd, etc page in a matter of just few minutes.
There are many ebooks on the internet which are said to cover the Social Bookmarking topic, but most of those ebooks only teach us what Social Bookmarking is and how to do it. And this is really basic information.
So here come the so called Bookmarking Strategies, because Bookmarking for Traffic is more than just bookmarking.
Most of the questions that emerge sound like – “Can i bookmark 100 identical URLs over different platforms?” or “How do i avoid being accused for spamming?” . There is no 100% perfect system.
And what exactly are these strategies?
The most common one is the “Basic Bookmarking”. You simply open accounts at few bookmarking sites and post your URLs to all of these platforms. There are pros and cons here, though. It may be easy to do, but you duplicate content and might be penalized by search engines.
There is also a common tactic used by spammers to create thousands of backlinks to their sites. You have to create many accounts at many bookmarking services’ sites and bookmark all your URLs. This strategy however is very shortlived, because accounts are usually deleted after not more than 24 hours. Not only is that tactic time consuming, but it generates traffic for a very short term (less than a day)
There is another technique know as “Blogfarm Bookmarking” . It is an effective strategy to get your site indexed. In a nutshell Blogfarm Bookmarking is linking of related blogs together. For example you set up 4 different share hosting accounts, link them, and then create 2 subdomains for every domain. Next you’ll need high quality links to just one of the domains. Provided all these, when the search engine spiders visit this domain, they will also crawl the rest of the domains and subdomains in the Blogfarm. And thus the PageRank of the first domain will be passed on to the rest. Now imagine what could this strategy do if you had not 4, but 1000 domains. In order not to be misleaded you should know that seach engine spiders may find out that this is a Blogfarm and will immediately deindex your pages.
Here is another bookmarking strategy that is less time consuming and you can get indexed very fast using it. Set up a sitemap for your domain with links to all your pages and after bookmark the sitemap. Search engine spiders will crawl your sitemap and all the links in it.
Have you heard of Tagfarm? It is a simple method to Blogfarm Bookmarking. Do you know that Google indexes your del.icio.us, spurl, furl, blinklist pages? For example, there are profile pages that have Pr4/5:
http://del.icio.us/hidew
http://www.blinklist.com/mreining/
http://www.furl.net/members/jpearce
http://furl.net/members/wenzloff
You can link your links like a blogfarm and have the same result.
You can also count on another strategy which is called Random Bookmarking Strategy – this is my favorite so far. If you create, let’s say 2 accounts for 6 bookmarking services’ sites – over time and with different ips, using different usernames and mail accounts, you’d end up with 12 accounts. After that you would randomly choose different accounts to posts your different URLs daily.
Using this strategy you will very much reduce duplicate content and are unlikely to be accused for spamming.
What turns out till now is that Social Bookmarking Strategies are very time consuming and sometimes even expensive (ex.domains for Blogfarms), but tell me, is not it worth it?
So here comes intelligent software as the last strategy i will write about – Social Bookmarking Automation Software.
There is only one tool on the Internet that can be a major time saver for profitable social bookmarking. Its name is Bookmarking Demon
If you check it out you’ll see that -
- automatically creates accounts and bookmarks to 20+ social bookmarking sites
- add unlimited amount of scuttle sites
- random posting timing
- proxy servers downloader and checker
- domain crawler
- randomize your bookmarks’ title, keywords and description
- randomize your login creation name
- automatically search for scuttle sites for account creation and bookmarking
And the most important thing is that in order to differntiate from being a spamming tool, it does not generate random usernames and passwords. You will need to specify them for an account creation.

Google grasps even a stronger hold on the internet with a new service
Nov 27th
I guess we all remember it when Google bought YouTube in 2006 for 1 650 000 000 (1.65 billion).
It is inevitable for such a buyer to not look for more and more ways to get revenue of a product so that the amount paid for it pays out itself.
Provided that and, their success with the AdWords model, it was not surprising that on 11 November Google announced its new service – Youtube Sponsored Videos.
How does it work?
Content owners are enabled to decide where their video is published, place bids (same as AdWords) and set daily spending budgets. After that, when YouTube users are browsing videos, YouTube displays relevant videos alongside search results. Ofcourse there is a label that these are “sponsored videos” and are priced on CPC basis.
It is obvious that this is yet another platform and thus a channel for viral marketing, which means that platforms like GoViral can begin competing YouTube immediately.
Currently YouTube Sponsored Videos is available only in the United States, it will soon be available, however, to other countries as well.
If you are interested in the service, you can visit ads.youtube.com
Or if you are only interested on how it works, you can watch this video.
